EMR Software Stimulus Incentives:
From $44,000 to $66,000 in Medicare or Medicaid bonus payments for adopting a certified EMR software system.
Electronic Prescription (e-Rx) Incentives:
Bonus payment of 2% on allowable Medicare Part B charges provided the eligible professional reports one e-prescribing measure in at least 50% of the cases in which the measure is reportable by the eligible professional.
PQRI Incentive Payments:
Physicians who satisfactorily follow PQRI guidelines and report quality-measures data for services furnished January 1, through December 31, 2009, will earn a single consolidated incentive payment in mid-2010. The payment will be 2.0% of the estimated total allowed charges for services covered under Medicare Part B.
EMR Software - Tax Deduction Benefits:
Under Section 179, medical offices are allowed to write-off up to $250,000 of EMR Software expenses in the first year of ownership, even when purchased under a lease or financing agreement. The economic stimulus package provides for an extra 50% bonus tax deduction in 2009.
